My Story

Hi and welcome to my site.  I am a mixed media artist that is learning to paint in a new way after years of painting in encaustic. A little about me….I am actually a CPA and work in Finance.

For many years I lived for the future - for the weekend. I had lots of fun and enjoyed my work most of the time but felt something was missing.  My creative spark was gone and I had to get it back to achieve balance in my life.

17 years ago in a journey of healing and self discovery, I re-ignited my creative spirit and taught myself how to paint using online step by step lessons in acrylic painting. Eventually this led me to the path of mixed media and encaustic. I worked tirelessly in encaustic, taught workshops, displayed my work in many art shows and galleries but in 2022, I had to give up my encaustic studio and learn new ways to paint with different materials. Encaustic is the ancient art form of painting with molten wax. I still love encaustic art, but it requires a dedicated studio with ventilation, and the ability to make a huge mess.

Teaching art from 2008-2020 were some of the happiest moments for me. Seeing the look on my student’s faces when they unexpectedly unleashed their creativity, was the best reward. I love inspiring people and one day I will teach again! Now, I am happy to explore other mediums - alcohol ink, acrylic, markers etc…and I paint because it makes me happy. I still work in Finance, so have both sides of my brain working all the time!

My dream? I made my dream come true for a few years- open up a studio and retail gallery and teach….I did that and I am so glad. It helped me realize how much work goes into retail. I am happy to quietly paint away in my home studio now and continue to make a mess. Hopefully there will be workshops in the future.
